The Keep the Faith Global Conference was a two-day digital symposium of women clergy, artists and activists from around the world promoting faith, hope and healing during the COVID 19 pandemic. This event was jointly organized by Intersections International, Al Amana Centre and FELM.

Shot on location in South Africa, Fingal documents the gospel choir of Marble Collegiate Church on their first performance tour of Soweto, Johannesburg and Cape Town.

Additional Projects:

Hurricane Katrina - Life After the Storm is a documentary that examines rebuilding efforts by local residents and community activists, especially those in the Lower Ninth Ward, severely damaged when the levees broke. Through in-depth interviews, powerful images and video footage, Fingal deftly weaves a narrative of what happened to families and neighborhoods when Katrina unleashed its fury on New Orleans in August of 2005, leaving tens of thousands scrambling and fighting to survive.

A Slice of Guyana is a 50-minute visual essay on the lives and circumstances of people in two small South American villages. This film touches on issues of history, race, politics, healthcare, education, economic viability and the linked humanity of people worldwide.

Umoja - Moments of Grace Shot on location in South Africa, this film explores the power of music and its ability to connect communities, despite issues of race, cultural differences and language barriers. Fingal documents the gospel choir of New York’s famed Marble Collegiate Church on their first performance tour of Johannesburg, Soweto and Cape Town. Music and concert footage interlace conversations of truth and reconciliation in post-Apartheid South Africa, stories of personal transformations, spiritual connections, conflict resolutions, and the ravages of HIV/AIDS.

“Marcia has a heart for South Africa and its people. We met in April of 2007 when she documented the gospel choir of Marble Collegiate Church on tour. She took excellent photographs that are still in our archives. During her second trip, we did community outreach providing meals to the homeless community in Hillbrow. I witnessed first hand her sense of humility and servanthood. Marcia is well skilled at fundraising and marketing and has provided MES with support, advice and connections to donors. She’s our middle person, helping to keep South Africa’s relationships with friends of MES in New York City.”
